Frances K. Helm, 97, of Shippensburg, passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at the Shippensburg Health Care Center.
She was born June 5, 1920 in Shippensburg, PA. Frances was a daughter of the late Jacob and Laura Mumma Keefer.
She was a member of the Shippensburg First Church of God and their K.Y.B. Sunday School Class. Frances retired from the United Telephone Company where she was employed for over 35 years. She was a past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of both the Durff-Kuhn VFW Post # 6168 and the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post # 223, Shippensburg. Frances was a member of the Ft. Morris Chapter AARP, Shippensburg, the Independent Telephone Pioneers Assoc. and the Benjamin M. Witmer Club, Chambersburg. She was a 1937 graduate of the Shippensburg High School.
She is survived by one son, Terry L. (Dona) Helm, two granddaughters, Karen (Mark) Reed and Leah Helm and two great grandsons, Luke Reed all of Shippensburg and Baden (Nora) Reed of Rockville, MD.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Helm. One half-brother and three half-sisters are also deceased.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at 10 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Shippensburg. Officiating will be The Rev. Jim Rogers. Burial will be held in the Spring Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Shippensburg First Church of God Beneficent Fund at 121 East King St., Shippensburg, PA 17257 to help those in need, within the Shippensburg community.
