Frances Bigler

April 25, 1928 — May 18, 2017

Frances Louise Bigler, 89, a resident of the Shippensburg Health Care Center, departed this life on the evening of Thursday, May 18, 2017.

She was born on April 25, 1928, in Shippensburg, a daughter of the late C. Wayne and Laura Gettel Comerer and married Glenn ‘Jack” Bigler on November 19, 1946 in Maryland. He preceded her in death on September 19, 2006.

Frances was a homemaker throughout her life, although she was employed at the former L’Aiglon and Richards Textiles for a period of time. Frances was a member of the Memorial Lutheran Church and most recently had attended the Shippensburg Church of the Nazarene. When her daughters were young, she was a Girl Scout Troop Leader; and in her free time enjoyed painting landscapes, playing the organ, and cooking. Frances was known as a terrific seamstress and could be very handy with tools, making repairs around the house. She enjoyed collecting antiques and had amassed quite a varied collection throughout the years. Nearest and dearest to her heart were her grandchildren, who were the light of her life.

She is survived by her son, Glenn L. “Jack” Bigler and wife Sandy of Shippensburg; two daughters, Nancy L. Jones and husband Leo LaPlante of Carlisle and Nicki E. Glunt and husband Tod of Shippensburg; seven grandchildren; one great granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Frances was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. The Rev. Robert Mentzer will officiate. Interment will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Home Care & Hospice at 1200 Walnut Bottom Road #302 Carlisle, PA 17015.
