Floyd D. Kirby, 84, of Shippensburg, passed away the evening of Thursday, December 17, 2020 at the Chambersburg Hospital.
He was born Friday, August 28, 1936 in Shippensburg, a son of the late Sebert H. and Dolly R. (Whorley) Kirby.
Floyd was a member of the Hub City Club and American Legion Post 223. He loved hunting and fishing, and was a very skilled woodworker. Floyd was the “go to” man for any kind of advice or help. He was a loving and devoted husband to his wife, June Keck Kirby. He also enjoyed and loved spending time with his grandchildren and family.
Floyd is survived by three children, Donna Sue Beatty of Dayton, OH, Debbie A. (Kurt) Bechtel of Mt. Airy, MD, and Ronald (Danielle) Kirby of Fairfield, PA; two step-children, Kimberly Williams and Wendy S. Bayer, both of Orrstown; three brothers, John, George, and David Kirby; two sisters, Dolly Oyler and Bonnie Parson; and numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Floyd was preceded in death by his wife, June Elizabeth Keck who passed away April 6, 2012. Also preceding him in death are a step-son, Van Alexander Williams and a brother, Ralph Kirby.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in the Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Robert L. Mentzer will officiate. A public viewing will be held Monday, December 21, 2020 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium Remembrance Chapel. The family will not be present to greet people during the viewing hours. Due to Covid-19, social distancing and masks are required.
