Florence Piper

Florence V. (Hockenberry) Piper, 96, of Mechanicsburg, formally of Shippensburg, passed away the morning of Monday, December 5, 2022 at the Church of God Home, Carlisle.

She was born on September 22, 1926 in Juniata County, a daughter of the late Mervin and Edna (Beaston) Hockenberry.

Florence attended Christian Life Assembly, Camp Hill.

She is survived by her two daughters, Cherry (Jim) Wagner of Chambersburg, and Michele (Charles) Brocht of Mechanicsburg; three grandchildren, Wendi (Anthony) Sabatelli, Andrew (Beatrix) Wagner, and Emily Brocht; seven great-grandchildren, Dillon Paetow, Aubri Paetow, Olayah Safouan, Christopher (Zoe) Rickenbach, Mikayla Law, Carson Law, and Piper Wagner; and four great-great-grandchildren, Abigail Lopez, Samuel Paetow, Eddie Rickenbach, and Wyatt Rickenbach.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray M. Piper; one daughter, Debbie Rae Piper; two brothers, Norman Hockenberry and Victor Hockenberry; and two sisters, Esther Chestnut and Zola Richardson.

Funeral services will be private. Florence will be laid to rest alongside her husband and daughter in the Otterbein Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central PA, 1320 Linglestown Rd., Harrisburg, PA 17110.
