Florence Sara Mowery, 90, a resident of Green Ridge Village, Newville, departed this life on the morning of Friday, November 27, 2020.
She was born on April 16, 1930, in Shamokin, Northumberland Co., PA, a daughter of the late Edward P. and Grace (Richie) Salter. Florence married Raymond L. Mowery in Lewistown, PA. He preceded her in death on November 20, 1973.
Florence was employed at Shippensburg University in the library, from where she retired. She was of the Presbyterian faith. In her free time, Florence enjoyed cooking, shopping, and will be remembered for how much she loved and cherished her family.
She is survived by two daughters, Beth E. Basehore and husband Fred and Jeree R. Vaughn and husband Robin, both of Shippensburg; one son, Dennis G. Mowery and wife Catherine of Monroe, NC; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; her brother, Wayne F. Salter of Harrisburg; her step-sister, Susie Croyle of Lewistown, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Florence was preceded in death by a sister, Ellen L. Myers.
Her funeral service will be held privately by her family.
