Florence V. Diehl, 86, of Shippensburg, departed this life on the morning of Monday, January 9, 2017, at the Orrstown Personal Care Home.
She was born on March 2, 1930, in Huntingdon, a daughter of the late Harvey B. and Florence Naugle Freysinger and married Harvey A. Diehl on December 7, 1950, in Hagerstown, MD.
Florence worked at Shippensburg University, retiring as a Custodial Supervisor after twenty-three years of employment. Earlier in life, she also worked at several of the former local area garment factories. Florence attended the Shippensburg First Church of God for many years, was a member of their Berean Sunday School Class, and helped out in the church nursery. In her free time she enjoyed going to auctions, tending to her home, and spending time with family.
She is survived by her husband of sixty-six years, Harvey, and by her daughters, Bonnie Diehl and Darlene (Richard) Mathna, both of Shippensburg; her grandson, Justin (Kristi) Davidson of Dillsburg; two great grandsons, Reese Davidson and Connor McCombs both of Dillsburg; and many nieces and nephews.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and one sister. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Friday, January 13, 2017, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Pastor Jim Rogers and Gary Hornbaker will officiate. Interment will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.
