Florence G. Asper, 98, departed this life on the evening of Sunday, July 29, 2018, in Salina, KS.
She was born on January 24, 1920, in Newburg, PA, a daughter of the late Luther and Margaret Shoffner Finkey.
Florence worked at the former Valley Baking Store, Shippensburg, for forty-five years, retiring in 1984, as a cake decorator.
She was a member of the Shippensburg First Church of God and its Kings Son’s and Daughter’s Sunday School Class. Florence was also a member of the Shippensburg AARP #2525. She attended the Church of the Cross in Salina, with her family, in most recent years. She enjoyed attending her great grandchildren’s sporting events and activities. She attended Sunflower Adult day center in Salina, doing activities and her favorite puzzle word search book.
Florence is survived by her daughter, Sharon Raubenstine of Salina, KS; two grandchildren, Michele (Ken) Durf of Shippensburg and Jim (Renae) Raubenstine of Salina, KS; three great grandchildren, Nathan Reed and Tanner and Lauren Raubenstine.
In addition to her parents, Florence was preceded in death by her first husband, Theodore R. Perry, who died on March 5, 1977; her second husband, James W. Asper, who died on May 10, 1999; three brothers; and one sister.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, August 4, 2018, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Pastor Jim Rogers will officiate. Interment will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
