Fay W. Sassin, 66, of Shippensburg, departed this life on the morning of Saturday, April 16, 2016, from complications of a long illness.
She was born on August 22, 1949, in Albion, NY, the only child of the late George and Frances Bentley Weale. Fay was a 1967 graduate of Albion High School and attended Westminster College, where she met her husband to be, Fred. They were married on August 29, 1970, in Albion and after short stays in Mechanicsburg, PA and Aberdeen, MD, they settled down in Shippensburg in 1976.
An accomplished artist and craftsman, Fay did numerous craft shows and operated Carriage House Creations from her Olde Scotland Road residence. Since 2000, Fay and her husband have owned and operated Wm and Mary Antiques in downtown Shippensburg.
Fay took great pride as a homemaker and dedicated mother who shared many interests with her children and husband. Fay also enjoyed following English soccer, reading, crossword puzzles, building miniature houses and furniture, gardening, and going antiquing.
She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Fred Sassin; two sons, Michael and Tom Sassin both of Shippensburg; her daughter, Anne Sassin Allen and husband Martyn Allen and two granddaughters, Cerys and Evie Allen, all of England.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, April 25, 2016, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg. Interment will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Viewing will be Sunday afternoon from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
