Fay M. Hensel

Fay M. Hensel, 85, of Newburg, passed away the morning of Friday, November 22, 2024 at the Mercy House of Chambersburg. 

She was born on March 22, 1939 in Newburg, a daughter of the late Mark W. and Hazel I. Shuman Hensel.

Fay was a 1957 graduate of Shippensburg High School. She then went on to earn her Bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Shippensburg State Teachers College. Fay worked as an elementary school teacher within the Shippensburg School District for her entire career. She was an active member of the Newburg United Methodist Church, where she was head of the primary department and volunteered at the clothing center. 

She is survived by two siblings, M. Wayne (Peggy) Hensel and Sarah J. Hensel, both of Newburg; and three nephews, Shawn A. (Stacy) Hensel, Jamie L. Hensel, and Michael C. Hensel. 

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Newburg United Methodist Church with Pastor Kevin Brophy officiating. Burial will follow at Otterbein Cemetery. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service.
