F. Genevieve “Jean” Burkholder, 97, a resident at Menno Haven, died Tuesday, March 8, 2011 in the home.
Born November 2, 1913 in Fannettsburg, she was a daughter of the late William M. and Mary Catherine Slike Kent.
She was a member of the Messiah United Methodist Church in Shippensburg and their Sunday school class. Jean was a 1931 graduate of Fannettsburg High School and was employed by Gordon’s Department Store and Swid Brothers both in Shippensburg.
Jenny was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur S. “Artie” Burkholder who died December 18, 2001, one brother, James Kent, three sisters; Faye Bitting, Clara Emmert, and Louise Staver.
She is survived by one sister, Carrie Gibbs of Chambersburg, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 12, 2011 at 11 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc., Shippensburg. Officiating will be W. David Kent. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery. The viewing will be held Saturday morning one hour prior to the services in the funeral home.
