Evelyn Shives

Evelyn S. Shives, 87, of Orrstown, departed this life on the morning of Friday, August 24, 2018, at the Shippensburg Health Care Center. She was born on October 19, 1930, in New Grenada, PA, the daughter of the late Amos McCoy and Mary Catherine Stains McCoy Strait and married George Martin Shives in April of 1951. He preceded her in death on February 25, 1995. Evelyn worked as a seamstress for several of the former local garment factories. She also worked for the Beistle Co., and at the former Kmart, Shippensburg. Evelyn was a member of the Orrstown U.B.C. and helped in the nursery. In her free time, she enjoyed reading and spending time with her dog and cats. She is survived by two daughters, Karen Shives of Orrstown and Patricia Ann (Barry) Stine of Shippensburg; one son, Ronald M. Shives of Orrstown; one grandson, Matthew A. (Crystal) Stine of Shippensburg; granddaughter-in-law, Merissa LeeAnn Stine of Williamsport, MD; two great grandchildren, Madison Stine and Luke Stine; half-brother, Clyde S. (Diane) Strait of McConnellsburg; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Evelyn was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Lee Stine; two brothers, William and Robert McCoy; and a half-brother, George Strait. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, August 29, 2018, at the Orrstown United Brethren Church. Pastor Ken Williamson will officiate. Interment will be at 3:00 p.m., in the Sideling Hill Christian Church Cemetery. Viewing will be Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg, and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church.
