Evelyn S. Holtry, 98, of Orrstown, passed away the evening of Friday, January 1, 2021 at her home with her loving family by her side.
She was born Friday, August 4, 1922 in Hopewell Township, a daughter of the late Russell R. and Dorothy M. (Mowery) Yocum.
Evelyn worked as a seamstress at L’Aiglon Apparel Inc., Shippensburg, retiring in 1969. She was a member of the Green Spring First Church of God.
She is survived by nieces and nephews, Dianna (Jay) Owen, Judy (Wayne) Hockensmith, Zane (Vicki) Highlands, Jeffrey (Gina) Yocum, Scott Yocum, Alicia Bagrosky, Mindy (Larry) Deatrick, Kimberly Paulis, and Gwen (Tim) Barrick; four step children, David Hinebaugh, Buddy Ray Hinebaugh, Donald Holtry, and Sandra Myers; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas Hinebaugh who passed away on August 1, 1967, and her second husband, John F. Holtry who passed away on September 5, 1975. She was also predeceased by one brother, Robert R. Yocum; three sisters, Frances Hoch, Helen Highlands, and Delores Jean Bailey; and a special friend, Brooks Lauther.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Green Spring First Church of God. Pastor Philip Steele will officiate. Evelyn will be laid to rest in the Westminster Cemetery. There will be a viewing one hour prior to services from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church.
