Evelyn C. Byers, 91, of Shippensburg, died Sunday, February 14, 2016 at home.
She was born May 29, 1924 in Letterkenny Twp. Franklin County. Evelyn was a daughter of the late H.H. and Elizabeth Hoover Hoover.
She was a member of the Mount Rock Brethren in Christ Church, Shippensburg and a volunteer for their Sunday School Nursery. Evelyn worked on the family Dairy Farm and volunteered at the Roxbury Holiness Camp. She loved children and animals.
Evelyn is survived by three sons, Dale S. (Ardith) Byers of Nabb, IN, Carl H. Byers, and P.H. (Barb) Byers all of Shippensburg, four daughters, Sondra M. (Ralph) Sanger of Lebanon, Martha E. (Dennis) Rosenberg of Mechanicsburg, Janet E. Byers of Shippensburg, and Lois (Chris) Ditlow of Harrisburg, daughter-in-law, Shirley Byers of Chambersburg, 11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, two sisters, Anna Reed of Lurgan, and Ruth Hancock of Pleasant Hall, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, J. Samuel Byers, a son, Nelson D. Byers, and a sister, Dorothy Rosenberry.
Funeral services will held Saturday, February 20, 2016 in the Air Hill Brethren in Christ Church, Chambersburg at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be The Rev. Lloyd T. Zimmerman. Burial will be held in the Air Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held Friday evening from 5-7 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Shippensburg and one hour prior to the services Saturday morning in church.
