Eugene Weaver

Eugene B. Weaver, 88, formerly of Shippensburg, late of Carlisle, departed this life on the afternoon of Thursday, October 28, 2021, at home.

He was born on July 30, 1933, in Bowmansville, Lancaster County, PA, a son of the late Noah B. and Onea Baer Weaver. Eugene married Mary Z. Newswanger on January 16, 1958, in Ephrata. She preceded him in death on September 29, 2017.

He is survived by sixteen children, Allen Weaver of East Earl, PA, Christ (Lydia Ann) Weaver of Orrstown, PA, Eugene (Marlene) Weaver of Penbroke, KY, Margaret Weaver of East Earl, PA, Rueben (Martha) Weaver of Orrstown, PA, Pauline (Walter) Sauder of Latham, MO, Marion Weaver of Liberty, KY, Wilma (Cleason) Martin of Liberty, KY, Raymond (Mary Jane) Weaver of Penbroke, KY, Fairman Weaver of Liberty, KY, Edna (Eli) Zimmerman of Elma, IA, Landis (Wilma) Weaver of Orrstown, PA, Selestia (Loren) Martin of Riceville, IA, Emma (Ervin) Nolt of Newville, PA, Alma (Irvin) Martin of Newville, PA, and Ellen (Elvin) Leid of Shippensburg, PA; seventy-eight grandchildren; thirty-seven great grandchildren; and one sister, Selestia Weaver of Elkton, KY; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, Eugene was preceded in death by seven sisters, Lydia Weaver, Mable Anna Hoover, Alma Sauder, Myrtle Weaver, Nancy Shirk, Esther Brubaker, and Margaret Weaver; and six brothers, Milton, Harvey, Reuben, Rufus, Jason, and Raymond Weaver.

His funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m., on Thursday, November 4, 2021, at the Clearfield Old Order Mennonite Church, Shippensburg. Bishop Eli Burkholder will officiate with assistance from others in the local ministry. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. Viewing will be Wednesday afternoon from 2:00 p.m., until 4:00 p.m., and again from 6:00 p.m., until 8:00 p.m., at 10062 Rowe Run Road, Orrstown, PA 17244.
