Eugene C. Reed, 76, of St. Thomas, died Wednesday in his home.
Born September 8, 1935 in Spring Run, he was a son of the late Martin and Ethel Shoemaker Reed.
He was a member of the Lurgan United Brethren Church. Eugene retired from DeRose after 29 years of employment and was a self employed carpenter. He was a veteran of United States Army Reserves.
He is survived by his wife, Winifred L. Paxton Reed, two daughters, Charlene R. Cook and her husband Paul of Belgrade, MT, and Gena M. Bender and her husband Mark of Stafford, VA, four grandchildren, Caleb and Kiley Cook, Kelsey Foster, and Colin Bender, two great grandchildren, Jonathan Meyer and Keegan Cook, one sister, Alma Hedge of Wood, PA and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents Eugene was preceded in death by a son, Barry Reed.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 17, 2011 in the Lurgan United Brethren Church at 11 a.m. Officiating will be The Rev. Richard E. Mose. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc., Shippensburg.
