Eugene H. McCurdy, 65, of Shippensburg, died on the morning of Saturday, August 2, 2014, at the Shippensburg Health Care Center.
He was born on December 2, 1948, in Shippensburg, a son of the late Harold C. and Lois Ann Staver McCurdy and was a 1968 graduate of Shippensburg Senior High School.
Eugene was employed as a House Parent at the Abraxas Youth Center, South Mountain, for over fifteen years, retiring in December of 2010. He was a member of the Memorial Lutheran Church, Shippensburg and the Shippensburg Fish & Game Association. In his free time, Eugene liked to go hunting and camping and especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his sister, Joyce A. (Guido) Villareal of Silver Springs, MD; one brother, Donald L. (Darlene M.) McCurdy of Shippensburg; three nieces; one nephew; one great niece; and four great nephews.
In addition to his parents, Eugene was preceded in death by a brother, Larry H. McCurdy.
His funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, August 8, 2014, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg. The Rev. Dr. Brenda J. Kiser will officiate. Interment will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Viewing will be Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial Lutheran Church at 34 E. Orange St. Shippensburg, PA 17257.
