Esther M. Snoke, 96, a resident of Providence Place Retirement Community, Dover, PA, formerly of Shippensburg, died on the morning of Sunday, June 9, 2013.
She was born on April 22, 1917, in Shippensburg, a daughter of Harry S. and Albertha Jane Gilbert Dubbs. Esther was a 1936 graduate of the Shippensburg Senior High School. On September 4, 1941, she married Mr. Mark C. Snoke in Hagerstown, MD. He preceded her in death on July 6, 2001.
Esther was homemaker throughout her life. A member of the Messiah United Methodist Church, and the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post #223 Ladies Auxiliary, both of Shippensburg, and she also worked on the Shippensburg Election Board for many years.
She is survived by three sons, Roy E. (Sherry) Snoke of York, John M. (Sandra) Snoke of Littlestown, and Joseph M. (Sharon) Snoke of York; five grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Esther was preceded in death by five brothers and five sisters.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg. The Rev. Dr. Francis H. Norton and Rev. Kevin E. Hughes will officiate. Interment will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service on Wednesday, at the funeral home.
