Esther M. Koons, 92, of Orrstown, died Friday, August 23, 2013 in the Village of Laurel Run, Fayetteville.
She was born July 12, 1921 in Chambersburg, Franklin County. Esther was a daughter of the late John M. and Emma Gearholt Lawyer.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband David R. Koons, Sr. who died September 17, 2009.
Esther is survived by one son, David R. Koons, Jr. of Shippensburg, three daughters, Patricia A. (Robert) Hamsher of Orrstown, Joann E. (Richard) Henderson of Fayetteville, and Linda K. (Randy) Moats of Orrstown, eight grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandsons.
Graveside memorial services will be held Thursday, August 29, 2013 at 10 a.m. at the Norland Cemetery, Chambersburg. Officiating will be The Rev. Peter M. Beddia. There will be no viewing or visitation.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Better Days Animal Shelter, 12310 Mongul Hill Road, Shippensburg, PA 17257.
