Ernest J. White, 71, of Shippensburg, departed this life on the morning of Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at his home.
He was born in Huntingdon, a son of Chase and Gladys White Kunkleman. Ernest married Helen “Kitty” Smith on July 31, 1964, at the Hagerstown Church of Christ.
Ernest retired as a press operator, from S.K.F. Industries, formerly of Shippensburg, after twenty five years of employment. He then went to work for Kittatinny Manufacturing, Shippensburg, for a few years.
He was a member of the Shippensburg Church of Christ and also taught Sunday School. In his free time, Ernest liked to fish, go metal detecting, and enjoyed the railroad and trains. A special interest of his was building and flying model remote controlled airplanes and Ernest had also studied to obtain a private small aircraft pilots license. Family was very important to him and he enjoyed the company of his children and grandchildren very much.
Ernest is survived by his wife of 52 years, Helen; his daughter, Rebecca (Mike) Elliott of Shippensburg; his son, James (Lisa) White of Shippensburg; four grandsons, Joe, Eric, and Blake Elliott and Tanner White; one granddaughter, Payton White; one brother, Tom (Linda) Shaver of Chambersburg; two sisters, Vicky (Lincoln) Sword of Gettysburg and Susie (Mike) Horn of Upper Strasburg; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, March 26, 2016, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg. Minister Dennis Adams will officiate. Interment will be private. Viewing will be Saturday morning from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
