Ernest J. “Ernie” Reeder, 78, of Shippensburg, passed away the morning of Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at his home.
He was born on July 12, 1946 in Chambersburg, a son of the late Garnet I. and Sarah C. (Crider) Reeder.
Ernie was a 1964 graduate of the Shippensburg High School and United States Army Veteran who served during the Vietnam War Era. He worked at Agway in Shippensburg for 35 years. Following Agway, Ernie was employed as a contractor at Letterkenny Army Depot for seven years, retiring in 2008. A “farm boy” at heart, Ernie loved tractors.
He is survived by two siblings, Doris A. Dunlap of Newburg, and Roy G. Reeder of Shippensburg; three nephews; two nieces; close friends, Karen Ulrich of Fayetteville and Larry Stenger and his wife Margaret of Chambersburg; and his furry companion, Rusty.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife and love of his life, Lavonne Kay “Vonnie” (Hoffman) Reeder, who passed away on August 23, 2024. Also preceding in death was one sister, Linda K. Reeder.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at 1:30 p.m. at Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. with Pastor Bruce Levy officiating. Burial will follow in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
