Emajean K. Stevens

Emajean K. Stevens, 82, formerly of Fayetteville, passed away the morning of Sunday, January 19, 2025 at the Shippensburg Health Care Center. 

She was born on April 26, 1942, a daughter of the late Howard C. and Edith A. Devor Neil, Sr.

Emajean worked as a sewing machine operator at the former Stanley Company for 31 years. Upon its closure, she worked for Martin’s Famous Pastry Shoppe on the dough line for 10 years, retiring in 2007. She enjoyed attending the Shady Pine Mennonite Church in Willow Hill. Emajean was well known for being an excellent cook and baker who was always kind and willing to help anyone in need. She had an interest in crafts and decorating her home, but most of all, she loved her children and grandchildren dearly. 

She is survived by her three daughters, Teresa A. (Robert B.) Mowery of Newburg, Tamie S. (Craig) Leininger of Shippensburg, and Tanya J. Varner of Greencastle; six grandchildren, Leslie (Jonathan) Baker, Mindy (Lance) Rydbom, Ryan Mowery, Aaron (Leigha) Leininger, Isaiah Leininger, and Nicole (Robert) Allen; nine great-grandchildren, Gavin, Jocelyn, and Grayson Baker, Lane, Lawson, and Lillian Rydbom, Gabriel and Uriah Leininger, and Alexander Allen and baby sister due next month; and three sisters, Susanna (Donald) Melius of Greencastle, Annabelle (Elvin) McCleaf of Shippensburg, and Lulabelle (George) Shearer of East Waterford. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Terry L. Stevens; one granddaughter, Renee Kay Mowery-Avara; five brothers, Leo, Howard Jr., Andrew, Amos, and Chester Neil; three sisters, Rebecca Brechbeil, Nancy Johnson, and Marigold Peck; and the father of her children, Dean A. Stevens. 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg with The Rev. Marlin A. “Butch” Neil officiating. Burial will follow in the Upper Strasburg Methodist Cemetery. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
