Elva Louise Nehf

August 14, 1928 — December 20, 2024

Shippensburg

Elva Louise (Whisler) Nehf, 96, of Shippensburg, departed this life on the morning of Friday, December 20, 2024, in her home, surrounded by love. She left behind a legacy of faith, family, and love and touched the lives of countless souls.

She was born on August 14, 1928, in Newburg, PA, a daughter of the late Clyde and Anna Mae (Koser) Whisler. Elva was preceded in death by her husband Charles E. Leon Nehf, committed companion Dana Rotz, four sisters, and two brothers.

Elva walked through life serving Jesus and was deeply devoted to her family and friends. She was a member of the Cleversburg United Methodist Church. Elva also taught Christian Endeavor at Newburg Evangelical United Brethren and served as a Sunday School teacher for many of her younger years.

She worked at the former Penn Pants and Marden Clothing Co., as a seamstress, was a homemaker, and a dairy farmer for many years. From bonds forged during her husband’s military service, Elva proudly celebrated the 961st Engineers Army reunions, traveling the east coast visiting lifelong friends. Later in life, she was a devoted caretaker to her husband. The number of individuals Elva touched in her ninety-six years is too vast to measure. Each person holds these memories dear.

She is survived by her daughter, Debbie L. Miller and husband Dan; grandson, Mike Miller and wife Niki; granddaughter, Andrea Strick and husband Darryl; seven great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter; one brother-in-law; four sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.

Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, December 27, 2024, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. The Rev. Ruth Ward and Rev. Janice Bye will officiate. Interment will follow in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service on Friday morning at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cleversburg United Methodist Church at 106 East Orange Street, Shippensburg, PA 17257.
