Ellen Rose was born at Fort Benning, Georgia, on April 12, 1962. She is the daughter of Robert S. and Janet Huber Rose.
As a proud “Army Brat”, Ellen attended schools in several states before graduating from State College High School. After receiving her B.A. in Education from Wilson College, she taught at Corpus Christi School in Chambersburg for more than two decades. During her career, she served as a classroom teacher across many grade levels, and as the Tech instructor for all grades. “Ms. Rose“ is remembered by her students for her care and support as well as her sense of humor and fun.
Ellen was grounded by her deep faith, which she shared with many others. She initiated the Healing Ministry at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, where she also taught Sunday School and participated in many parish outreach programs.
She is survived by her son, Dane Jessen, and siblings Nancy Rose (Belmont, MA), Marjorie Rose (Hanover NH), and Robert Rose (Rockwood, TN), as well as seven nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Christian Jessen, brother, John Rose, and father, Robert Rose.
A Celebration of her life will be held at Saint Andrew’s Episcopal church, 226 East Burd Street, Shippensburg on Saturday, February 4, at 10 A.M. The family will hold a later private burial.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Corpus Christi Catholic School Scholarship Fund, 305 North Second St., Chambersburg PA 17201, or to Saint Andrew’s Healing Ministry, 206 East Burd St, Shippensburg, PA 17257.
