Elizabeth J. Holtry, 81, of Chambersburg, passed away on Saturday, October 29, 2011, at the Chambersburg Hospital.
Born on May 5, 1930, in Letterkenny Township, a daughter of the late Clarence and Eva Clever Forrester, Sr.
On August 24, 1950, Elizabeth married Lester L. Holtry at the Ridge Church of the Brethren, Shippensburg, PA.
Elizabeth was employed for 43 years, at the former Stanley Co., Chambersburg, working as a Presser, retiring in 1992.
She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant United Brethren Church, Chambersburg and was a former member of the Chambersburg Mall Walkers. She loved and was loved greatly by her family, especially her grandchildren, and many friends.
Elizabeth is survived by her husband of 61 years, Lester L. Holtry; one daughter, Teresa (Ray) Betts of Big Cove Tannery, PA; three sisters, Margaret Appleby, Eva (H. Wayne) Farner, and Wanda (Robert) Whitmer, all of Shippensburg; one brother, Clarence Forrester, Jr. of Plevna, KS; two grandsons, Brian (Kate) Diehl and Brenton (Sherrie) Diehl, both of Westminster, MD; one step-grandson, Dr. Michael (Tara) Betts of Springfield, PA; eight great-grandchildren; two step-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Diehl.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, November 3, 2011, at the Mt. Pleasant United Brethren Church. The Rev. Garry Culler and Rev. Caroline J. Smith will officiate. Interment will follow at Parklawns Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg, and one hour prior to the service at church on Thursday.
