Elaine M. Keener, 88, of Shippensburg, passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at Chapel Pointe at Carlisle.
She was born July 7, 1933 in Newville, PA. Elaine was a daughter of the late Harold and Dorothy (Mentzer) Hershey.
She was a member of the Prince Street United Brethren Church, Shippensburg. Elaine was a Sunday school teacher, youth fellowship leader, on the board of trustees, and went on numerous mission trips. She was employed as a secretary for the J. Paul Fogelsanger Insurance Agency, a private secretary for George Stewart (president at Valley National Bank), and church secretary at the Shippensburg Presbyterian Church. She was a 1951 graduate of the former Shippensburg High School. Elaine enjoyed cooking, crocheting, giving gifts to others and most of all spending time with family.
In addition to her parents, Elaine was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Clarence A. Keener who passed away April 7, 2021. Her sister, Audrey Helman is also deceased.
She is survived by three children, Marguerite E. (David) Elliott of Newburg, Jeffrey C. Keener of Fairless Hills, and Renee E. (Michael) Warner of Mechanicsburg; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one brother, Harold “Sonny” Hershey of Shippensburg; one sister, Sandra Banks of Carlisle; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 24, 2022 at 2 p.m. in the Prince Street United Brethren Church, Shippensburg with Pastor John Shadle officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the services in church.
