Edwin Lee “Ed” Sprecher, 75, of Shippensburg, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, June 28, 2020 from the Chambersburg Hospital.
Born Thursday, September 28, 1944 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Richard R. and Rachel Frances Ocker Sprecher.
Ed was a 1962 graduate of the Shippensburg Area Senior High School. He attended the First Assembly of God Church in Shippensburg. Ed started with working career at the Shippensburg State College. He later retired in 1999 as a letter carrier from the Shippensburg Post Office, with 32 years of service. After his retirement, he was employed part-time at the D & L Gulf station with 10 years of service.
He was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers, a life member of the Cumberland Valley Hose Company # 2, past President of the Vigilant Hose Company, both in Shippensburg, and was a member of the Union Fire Company, Carlisle.
Ed was an avid sports fan, especially the New England Patriots, Baltimore Colts, and the Washington Nationals. He loved and cherished his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Janell J. Devor Sprecher, whom he married June 25, 1966; two sons, Edwin John (Jeanette Martin) Sprecher, Shippensburg, and Jason Lee (Jody) Sprecher, Chambersburg; one brother, Donald E. (Glenda) Sprecher, Chambersburg; and four grandchildren, Hope E. Sprecher, John David Sprecher, Faith K. Sprecher, and Jessica J. Sprecher.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, C. Ray Sprecher.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 2, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc., with the Rev. Timothy Beitzel officiating. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held Thursday morning, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service in the funeral home. Those
in attendance are asked to observe the recommendations pertaining to reducing the potential spread of Covid-19; wearing masks, hand sanitizing, and social distancing as much as possible.
