Edward E. “Eddie” Sampson, 60, a resident at the Shippensburg Health Care Center and formerly of Walnut Bottom, died Monday, September 2, 2013 in the home.
Eddie was born Thursday, October 9, 1952 in Carlisle. He was a foster son of Margaret S. Mellinger of Walnut Bottom, and the late Paul R. Mellinger.
He was of the Methodist Faith. Eddie found enjoyment working at the Citizens Industrial Training Center of Mechanicsburg.
He loved traveling the floors of Claremont Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in his electric wheel chair and talking on the phone.
In addition to his foster mother, he is survived by the rest of his foster family, including three sisters, Darlene K. Ziegler and her husband, Jack of Newville, Carol E. Neil and her companion, James Goodyear of Shippensburg and Ruth A. Graver and her husband Rodney of Gardners, one nephew, Zachary Ziegler, two nieces, Kristin Ziegler and Bethany Woodward, one very close friend, Kenny Houser, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many special friends and helpers.
A memorial service will be held Monday, September 9, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Hays Grove United Methodist Church, 2180 Pine Road, Newville, PA 17241 with Pastor Barbara A. Servello officiating. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the church.
