Edward L. "Ed" Minahan

Edward L. “Ed” Minahan, 83, of Shippensburg, formerly of Johnstown, passed away the evening of Saturday, December 28, 2024 at his home.

He was born on September 27, 1941 in Johnstown, the son of the late William Henry and Margaret L. (Alberter) Minahan. He married Andrea L. Toth on March 11th, 1961.

Ed was a 1959 graduate of Johnstown High School and a United States Navy Veteran, who served abroad during the Vietnam War Era. He was a member of the VFW Post #155 and American Legion Post #849, both in Johnstown.

Upon honorably discharged from the United States Navy, Ed started working in 1964 at his father’s business, Minahan Sign Company. He purchased the business in 1983 and owned and operated Minahan Sign Corporation until 2008. Ed was a proud member of the accomplished S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A. Barbershop Harmony Society and part of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW).

In addition to his wife of 63 years, Andrea L. Minahan, he is survived by three children, Sandra B. Davis and husband Todd of Heilwood, PA, William A. “Bill” Minahan and wife Kimberly of Windber, PA, and Jennifer L. Mowers and husband Mike of Shippensburg; nine grandchildren, Elizabeth Harris and husband Michael, Alexander Prociuk and partner Christina, Nicholas Minahan, Oliver Minahan, William Minahan, Andrew Minahan, Connor Mowers, Mason Mowers, and Abigail Mowers; one great-granddaughter, Selena Prociuk; and two nieces, Judie Reinhardt and Kathi Nagy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Edward W. Minahan; one sister, Patricia “Jane” Minahan Eddings; and one niece, Amy Smith.

A celebration of Ed’s life will be held on Monday, January 6th at 2:00pm at the American Legion Post #137, 312 14th St., Windber, PA. Ed will be privately laid to rest in the Grandview Cemetery in Johnstown.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg.
