Edna Vanscyoc

Edna P. VanScyoc, 95, a resident of the Shippensburg Health Care Center, died Tuesday, June 30, 2015 in the home.

She was born August 16, 1919 in Mongul, Franklin County. Edna was a daughter of the late William H. and Mary E. Runshaw Mathna.

Edna retired in 1996 from Towne Cleaners in Shippensburg after 44 years of employment. Earlier in her life she worked at the former Shirtcraft Company. She was a member of the Mongul United Brethren Church, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Durff-Kuhn VFW Post # 6168.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel R. VanScyoc, step-mother, Alice Mathna, and four siblings, Harry W., Bruce M., John R. and Ruth E. VanScyoc.

Edna is survived by three sons, Jeffrey (Peggy) VanScyoc of Shippensburg, Richard (Ann) VanScyoc of Altoona, and Gary (Emma) VanScyoc of Linglestown; one brother, Rev. Frank (Edith) Mathna of Shippensburg; four grandchildren, Julie Weyandt and Jennifer VanScyoc of Altoona, and Kristen VanScyoc of Linglestown, and Brian VanScyoc of Shippensburg, and numerous great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Shippensburg. Officiating will be The Rev. Rocky W. Spear. Burial will be held in the Mongul Cemetery. A viewing will be held Tuesday morning one hour prior to the services in the funeral home.
