Edna V. Tarner, 84, a recent resident of Providence Place in Chambersburg and formerly of Shippensburg, died Saturday, January 19, 2013 in the Chambersburg Hospital.
Born February 5, 1928 in Newville. She was a daughter of the late John and Grace Zinn Barrick.
Edna retired from Shippensburg University after 29 years of service. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church, Shippensburg for 60 years and more currently attended The Open Door Church in Chambersburg. Edna will be greatly missed by both family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Edna was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Robert S. “Bobbie” Tarner who died February 16, 2008. Six brothers; Herbert, Eber, Fred, Quinter, Arthur, and Robert Barrick; and three sisters: Nellie Negley, Myrtle Burkholder, and Miriam Crusey are also deceased.
She is survived by a son, Jerry Tarner and wife Debbie of Jacksonville, FL, one daughter Marie Tarner Eutzy Webb and husband Dennis of Chambersburg, four granddaughters, Yvette Tarner Cavender, husband Kendall and two great-grandchildren, Chapin and Raegan of Houston, TX; Tiffany Tarner Newman, husband Jeffrey and two great-grandchildren, Ainsley and Evelyn of Atlanta, GA; Heather Tarner Reynolds, husband Robert and two great-grandchildren, Kian and Taya of Denver, CO; Kristin Eutzy Watts, husband Robert and one great grandchild Taylor of Greencastle, PA, two sisters, Vivian Burkholder of Harrisburg, PA, and Pauline Barrick of Carlisle, PA; and a daughter-in-law Evelyn Tarner of Naples, FL.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Shippensburg. Officiating will be The Rev. John A. Ile, Jr. and The Rev. John L. Rauch. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the services in the funeral home.
