Edna Besore

Edna M. Besore, 93, a resident of Green Ridge Village, Newville, departed this life on the morning of Tuesday, September 27, 2022.

She was born on August 11, 1929, in Oakville, a daughter of the late Paul R. and Grace (Myers) Killian. Edna was a 1947 graduate of Shippensburg High School. She married Norman G. Besore on April 21, 1950. He preceded her in death on April 7, 2019.

Edna worked as a secretary throughout her life, first for SKF Industries and second for the former Coy’s Plumbing and Heating. She was a member of the Shippensburg Church of the Brethren since 1950 and served as a Deacon along with her husband, Norman.

In younger years, Edna was a member of the former Cumberland Valley Camping Club. She enjoyed spending winters in Florida and making friends with people from many different states. Aside from traveling, Edna’s interests included reading, puzzle books, and sewing.

She is survived by her son, Crist E. Besore and wife Karen of Newburg; her daughter, Gail B. Clarke and husband James of Newburg; two grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; nine step-great grandchildren; two sisters, Peggy A. Dyarman and husband Fred of Oakville and Barbara G. Oyer and husband David of Orrstown; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Edna was preceded in death by four brothers, Paul, Charles, Donald, and Kenneth; one sister, Esther Gilbert; and brother in law, Thomas Gilbert.

Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, October 3, 2022 at the Shippensburg Church of the Brethren. Pastor Clarence Stouffer will officiate. Interment will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service on Monday morning at the church.
