Edgar Earl Brindle, 91, of Shippensburg, departed this life on the afternoon of Sunday, May 12, 2024, at Celebration Villa, Shippensburg.
He was born on August 9, 1932, in Canistota, South Dakota, a son of the late Earl and Nellie (Sanford) Brindle. Edgar was a U.S Army veteran of the Korean War, inducted on January 13, 1953, and honorably discharged on December 15, 1954. He married Florence L. Cordell on December 31, 1952, in Hagerstown, MD. She preceded him in death on June 27, 1990.
Edgar worked at the former John Swope Jewelry, where he did watch repair. However, he spent the majority of his working life as a draftsman at the former SKF, Shippensburg, retiring in 1990.
Edgar enjoyed being outdoors; hunting, fishing, and golfing. He also liked to dabble in winemaking. Edgar was a member of the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post #223 and the Durff-Kuhn V.F.W. Post #6168, both of Shippensburg. He was also a member of the LIKO Hunting Club, and a member of the former Whirlybirds Square Dance Club and Golden Age Club, Shippensburg.
He is survived by his three daughters Louann Brindle of York, Linda K. Piper and husband Wayne of Shippensburg, and Nancy S. Pentz of Waynesboro; a grandson, Travis E. Piper; a granddaughter, Jessica N. Pentz; two great grandchildren, Tamen and Amelia Piper; one sister, Stella Mears of Shippensburg; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and spouse, Edgar was preceded in death by one sister, Fern Schwitzer; one brother, Dale Brindle; and a son-in-law, Charles Pentz.
His graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, May 16, 2024, in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Shippensburg. The Rev. Richard Reese will officiate. Military honors will be conducted by the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post #223, Shippensburg. There will be no prior public viewing.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post #223 or the Durff-Kuhn V.F.W. Post #6168.
