Earl Gilbert

Earl E. Gilbert, 80, formerly of Lurgan Ave., Shippensburg, died peacefully Wednesday, April 25, 2012 in the Shippensburg Health Care Center.
Born July 1, 1931 in Shippensburg, Cumberland County, he was a son of the late Elizabeth Bowermaster Rhone.
Earl was a member of Messiah United Methodist Church in Shippensburg. He worked for over 20 years at T.B. Woods in Chambersburg and later was self employed.
Earl was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Betty G. Clippinger Gilbert who died March 27, 2004.
He is survived by a son, Dietrich E. “Deke” Gilbert and his wife Cathy of Elliotsburg, two grandsons, Andrew Gilbert of State College, and Brian Gilbert of McLean, VA, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services at the Norland Cemetery will be held on Saturday, April 28 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. Francis H. Norton officiating.
