Dustin E. Sheffler, 50, of Shippensburg, passed away the evening of Saturday, May 4, 2024 at the Gettysburg Hospital.
He was born on Tuesday, January 22, 1974 in Waynesboro, a son of Karen I. Swisher Baer and stepson to Earl C. Baer.
Dustin was a 1992 graduate of the Waynesboro Area Senior High School and a United States Navy Veteran, serving for over 20 years. Dustin was currently employed at Alpha Space Control Company as a project manager and was the Senior Vice Commander at the Durff-Kuhn VFW Post #6168.
Anyone who knew Dustin, knew he had a love and passion for softball. Dustin coached both the Pheonix Warriors 14U and Jersey Outlaws 16U teams, as well as volunteered for the Shippensburg High School Varsity Softball team. He cherished all the relationships he created over the years coaching, especially the relationships with all of his girls. Dustin also had a love for music and was an avid Baltimore Orioles and Washington Redskins fan.
He is survived by his wife, Renee S. Barnett Sheffler; four children, Brady Coy, Kalia Soverns, Tyler Sheffler, and Joshua Sheffler; two granddaughters, Lennox and Bexlee Coy; one brother, Brandon E. Sheffler; three stepbrothers, Clark Baer, Michael Baer, and Joseph (Sherry) Baer; five cousins, Scott McIntire, Chasity Staples, Brody McIntire, Michael Swisher, and Jason Swisher; aunt and uncle, Beverly (Charlie) McIntire and Denton (Debbie) Swisher; two nieces; and two dogs, Bizzy and Bean.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Peggy D. Swisher; and one aunt, Ruth E. Creager.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 12, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg with Pastor Bruce Levy officiating. Military honors conducted by the Minutemen of the American Legion Post #223 will immediately follow at the funeral home. A viewing will be held two hours prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Renee Sheffler, 128 Cumberland Avenue, Shippensburg, PA 17257, for the benefit of their daughter, Kalia’s, future softball endeavors.
