Duane E. “Goody” Goodhart, 78 of Shippensburg, died Thursday, February 16, 2012 in Menno Haven.
Born August 4, 1933 in Orrstown, PA, he was a son of the late Carl E. and Dorothy I. Zullinger Goodhart.
Goody was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Orrstown and a 1952 graduate of the former Shippensburg High School. He retired from the Letterkenny Army Depot with over 39 years of service.
Goody was a member since 1958 of the Orrstown Lodge #262 Free & Accepted Masons, a Past Master in 1968 and Trustee since 1979. He was also a member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Harrisburg, a Past President of the Shippensburg Scottish Rite Club, Sovereign Prince Council of Princes of Jerusalem, Harrisburg, Sovereign Grand Inspector General 33rd degree and honorary member of Supreme Council, a Grand Tall Cedar Valley Forest #145 Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Shippensburg, Supreme Director Region 3 Supreme Forest Tall Cedars of Lebanon of North America, Supreme Tall Cedar 1984 of Tall Cedars of Lebanon of North America, Past President Officers and Past Officers Tall Cedars of Lebanon District #11, George Washington Royal Arch Chapter #176, Chambersburg, George Washington Council #66, Chambersburg, Trinity Conclave Knights of the Red Cross of Constantine, Carlisle Chapter National Sojourners #130, Life Member of National Sojourners # 365 Club, Heroes of 76 National Sojourners, Masonic Order of Bath, Constans Council # 239 Allied Masonic Degrees, Harrisburg, Past member Advisory Council George Washington Chapter Order of DeMolay, Honorary Legion of Honor International Supreme Council Order of DeMolay, Charter member Susquehanna Valley Preceptory of the Legion of Honor Order of DeMolay, Grand Master’s Award for outstanding services to Freemasonary, Chapel of Four Chaplains Philadelphia Legion of Honor Medallion, John S. He was a member of the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post #223, Shippensburg, B.P.O.E. #600, Chambersburg, Letterkenny Army Depot Rod and Gun Club, NARFE, Chambersburg, and a United States Air Force Veteran of the Korean War.
He is survived by a son, D. Scott Goodhart and his wife Cathy, a daughter, Pamela J. Goodhart, a brother, Jack E. Goodhart and his wife Dolores, two grandsons, Derek Scott and Devin Elder Goodhart all of Chambersburg, and a good friend and companion, Janet M. Derrick of Shippensburg.
In addition to Goody’s parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria G. “Dolly” Gaston Goodhart who died December 12, 2006.
Funeral services will be held Monday, February 20, 2012 in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc., Shippensburg at 4 p.m. with The Rev. Kathleen G. Coleman officiating. Burial with military honors conducted by the Shippensburg American Legion and VFW Posts will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held Sunday evening from 5-8 p.m. in the funeral home with Masonic Services conducted by the Orrstown Lodge #262 Free and Accepted Masons at 7 p.m.
