Douglas Windsor Cooper, Sr., 82, of Shippensburg passed peacefully on the evening of Thursday, June 4, 2015, at the Chambersburg Hospital.
Born May 30, 1933 in Baltimore, MD, the son of the late William Fletcher and Mary Reese Cooper. Douglas was a 1952 graduate of Westminster High School and earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Baltimore in 1956. On June 22, 1958 Douglas married Elnor Irene Langford at the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lansdowne, MD. She preceded him in death on August 9, 2005.
Douglas retired from the M & T Bank in Shippensburg after forty-two years of employment in the banking industry. He was a fifty-two year member and past president of the Shippensburg Lions Club and was a long-time member of the Memorial Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his son, Douglas W. Cooper, Jr., of Camas, WA; his daughter, Linda Cooper, and son-in-law, James Troendle, of Columbia, MD; four grandchildren, Nicholas Cooper, Rachael Cooper, London Cooper-Troendle, and Austin Cooper-Troendle; two nephews and three nieces. In addition to his parents and spouse, Douglas was preceded in death by his sister Jean Cooper Ward.
The family will receive friends at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg on June 9 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. His funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at the funeral home. The Rev. Dr. Francis H. Norton will officiate. Interment will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the St. Benjamin’s (Krider’s) Lutheran Church Cemetery, Westminster, MD.
