Dorothy Viola Wyant, 87, of Shippensburg, died on the morning of Tuesday, October 7, 2014, at the Shippensburg Health Care Center.
She was born on December 18, 1926, in Shippensburg, a daughter of the late George W. and Ethel Gamble Cover.
Dorothy was a homemaker throughout her life. She was a member of the Shippensburg Community Church. In her free time, she liked to write letters to her many pen pals, as well as play bingo, where she met many of her friends.
She is survived by her two sons, Robert E. (Helen) Wyant of Chambersburg and Charles W. “Sonny” Wyant, Jr., of Shippensburg; grandson, Trevor Robert (Lenore) Wyant of Chambersburg; great granddaughter, Gabriele Rose Wyant of Chambersburg; two sisters, Anna (Leroy) Allen and Thelma Brenize, both of Shippensburg; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. Wyant, Sr., who died on May 29, 1989; one great grandson, Foster Seton Wyant; and one brother, Melvin Cover.
Her graveside funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Monday, October 13, 2014, at the Salem United Brethren Church Cemetery. The Rev. Maynard Jones will officiate. There will be no public viewing or visitation.
