Dorothy L. Rhone, 81, of Shippensburg and formerly of Chambersburg, died Wednesday, June 13, 2012 in Claremont Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Carlisle.
Born Monday, May 18, 1931 in Shippensburg, she was a daughter of the Theodore “Ted” and Leona Shoap Hockersmith.
Dorothy was a member of the Middle Spring Presbyterian Church, Shippensburg. She loved cooking, baking and canning and enjoyed playing BINGO.
Surviving are one son, Edward W. Rhone and his wife Diana of Chambersburg, one daughter, Linda A. Smith and her husband Curtis of Camp Hill, one sister, Jane Patton of Mission Bay, CA, two grandsons, Matthew C. Rhone and Jonathan E. Rhone and one granddaughter, Abby N. Rhone all of Chambersburg and several cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband Richard T. Rhone who died July 31, 2003 and Lawrence W. and Clara Hockersmith Warren who raised her in Southern California.
A memorial service will be held Monday, June 18, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc., Shippensburg, Pa., with the Rev. Derek A. Wadlington officiating. Burial will be in the Middle Spring Cemetery. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to one’s favorite charity.
