Dorothy R. Pearce, 95, formerly of South Williamsport, PA, passed away Thursday, November 23, 2017 in the Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Chambersburg, PA.
Born May 16, 1922 in Philadelphia, PA., she was a daughter of the late Walter and Julia Roesling MacBrid
Dorothy was a homemaker and earlier during her life she was a Registered Nurse. Dorothy was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church and their choir in South Williamsport for over 60 years. She was a member of the Williamsport Music Club, Williamsport Civic Chorus, and sang in a quartet for Temple Beth Ha Sholom for many years. She also volunteered for the American Red Cross.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Louis L. Pearce (1979), one son, Walter Pearce and a brother, Walter MacBride.
Dorothy is survived by two sons, James (Rebecca) Pearce of Waynesboro, PA, and David Pearce of Atlanta, GA, one daughter, Elizabeth Pearce of South Williamsport, one sister, Julia Webb of New York state, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, December 16, in the Messiah Lutheran Church, South Williamsport at 1pm. Officiating will be Rev. Joshua L. Reinsburrow. Burial will be in Friedan’s Cemetery, Liberty, PA. There will be no viewing, however a visitation will be held in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
The family will provide the flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross, Lycoming County Chapter, and to Messiah Lutheran Church.
