Dorothy J. McCall, 88, of Shippensburg, departed this life on the morning of Friday, December 15, 2017, at her home.
She was born on April 19, 1929, at the Brumbaugh homestead, R.D. Hesston, Huntingdon County, the daughter of the late Homer and Della Brumbaugh Garner. She was united in marriage to Ronald McCall on July 14, 2002, in Hesston.
In addition to her husband, Ronald, of fifteen years, she is survived by three daughters, Beverly A. (Eugene) Peachey of Huntingdon, Barbara L. Wenger of Shippensburg, and Beth E. Jamison of Huntingdon; step-son, Timothy A. (Susan) McCall of Bryn Mawr; two grandchildren, Nathan C. (Melanie) Peachey of Chester, SC and Michelle L. (Robert) Doble of Harrisburg; two great grandchildren, Myra J. and Jarett M. Peachey; one brother, H. Eugene (Ruth) Garner of James Creek; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Lee Wenger and a brother, Ralph E. Garner.
Dorothy was a 1946 graduate of Huntingdon Area High School and completed numerous banking and finance industry courses, pursuant to her career. She spent thirty-seven years working in the finance industry, serving as vice-president and secretary of United National Bancorp, corporate secretary of Unitas National Bank, and director and secretary of Unitas Mortgage Corporation, retiring in 1998.
She was a member of the Newburg United Methodist Church, serving on its worship committee and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Mount Union Chapter #280. Dorothy enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, round dancing, square dancing, and traveling, which she did extensively with her husband Ronald, to places such as Ireland, New Zealand, Austria, and Crater Lake, Oregon, which was a special and favorite place. Spending time with her family was of paramount importance to Dorothy.
Her funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, December 22, 2017, at the James Creek Church of the Brethren, 15347 Raystown Rd, James Creek, PA 16657. The Rev. Judi Herrold and Pastor Harvey Wason will officiate. Interment will follow in the White Church Cemetery. Viewing will be Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg, and two hours prior to the service on Friday at the church.
