Dorothy Houck

August 7, 1924 — April 25, 2012

Dorothy L. “Dottie” Houck, 87, a resident of Menno Haven, formerly of Shippensburg, died on the morning of Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at Menno Haven.

She was born on August 7, 1924, in Chambersburg, a daughter of the late Arthur E. and Alice B. Hay Argenbright.

Dottie was a homemaker, devoted wife, and mother, throughout her life. She and her late husband Paul W. Houck, Jr., lived in their mountain home, on Mountain Rd., Newburg, for over fifty years. It became a very special place for them and they loved being surrounded by all the nature on the mountain.

She is survived by two sons, William P. (Linda) Houck of Chambersburg and Thomas L. (Diane) Houck of Bend, OR; two brothers, Steven Argenbright of Fayetteville and Carl Argenbright of Middletown; one sister, Patty Hammond of Chambersburg; four grandchildren; one great grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, and one brother.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 27, 2012, at Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg. The Rev. Vernon Isner will officiate. The Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg has been entrusted with her funeral arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Menno Haven Benevolent Fund at 2011 Scotland Ave Chambersburg, PA 17201.
