Dorothy Hoch

Dorothy B. Hoch, a resident of Green Ridge Village, formerly of Shippensburg, passed away, Friday, January 13, 2017 in the home.

She was born January 2, 1922 in McCrae, Cumberland County. Dorothy was a daughter of the late George A. and Ruth A. (Fry) Ginter and was married to E.M. Eugene Hoch in 1940. Mr. Hoch died on March 31, 1969.

She was a life-long member of the Oakville United Methodist Church where she was involved in many ministries including treasurer for more than thirty years. Dorothy was a Charter Member of the Cumberland County Society of Farm Women Group #7 and held several offices in that Group as well as serving as a county officer. She was a former member of the Grange and served on the election board of Southampton Township, Cumberland County. Dorothy was co-chair of the Home Products Division of the first Shippensburg Fair and served in that capacity for many years. She was a 1940 graduate of the former Newville High School. She worked on the family farm near Shippensburg her entire life until she became a resident of Green Ridge Village in September 2010.

Dorothy is survived by three children, Brenda J. Kuhnert and husband H. John, Paul E. Hoch and Harry G. Hoch and wife Suzanne; five siblings, George F. Ginter, Leta M. Fickes, Paul A. Ginter and wife Joan, Jay R. Ginter and wife Louise, and Neva L. Barrick; five grandchildren, Fred T. Hoch and wife Nikki, Tedd E. Hoch and wife Julianne, Jeffrey B. Cohick and wife Stacey, Matthew R. Hoch and wife Serenity, and Stephanie E. Hoch; one step granddaughter, Sue Ellen Beggs and husband James; nine great grandchildren, Tyler, Benjamin, Andrew, Elyse, Bella, Logan, Weston, Lila, and Anneliese Hoch; 3 step great-grandchildren, one step great-great-grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Janet E. Oiler and R. Arlene Miller.

Memorial services will be held Thursday, January 19, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium Shippensburg. Officiating will be Chaplain Barbara Albert. Burial in the Spring Hill Cemetery will be private. There will be no viewing or visitation.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Benevolent Fund of Green Ridge Village, 210 Big Spring Road, Newville, PA 17241.
