Dorothy Ferrell

Dorothy J. Ferrell, 89, a resident of Green Ridge Village formerly of Orrstown, passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born February 8, 1927 in Mt. Union, PA. Dorothy was a daughter of the late Clinton and Frances Hockenberry.

She retired from the Letterkenny Army Depot, was a homemaker and a loving wife and mother to her four daughters. Dorothy was a life member of the LSL Sportsman’s Association, Orrstown.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Lester T. “Lick” Ferrell who died August 3, 2001. Also preceding her in death were three daughters, Jeanne D. Pepper, Shirley M. Austin and Joyce C. Dettinburn, three brothers, Jackie, Kenneth and Russell Hockenberry and one sister, Edith Fickes.

She is survived by one daughter, Teresa K. (Barry) Coffey of Shippensburg, one brother, Ronald Hockenberry of Chambersburg, two sisters, Betty Addelsburger and Bonnie Seaman both of Chambersburg, eight grandchildren, two step grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 10, 2017 at 10 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Shippensburg. Officiating will be The Rev. Vivian Carbaugh. Burial will be held in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
