Dorothy E. Daniels, 93, a resident of Menno Haven, died on the morning of Tuesday, August 4, 2015.
She was born on April 1, 1922, in Shippensburg, a daughter of the late William and Anna H. Hammond Miller. Dorothy married Miles D. “Dan” Daniels on August 2, 1947. He preceded her in death on December 14, 2010.
Dorothy was employed as a Secretary for the U.S. Airforce in the Pentagon until 1973 and then at the Letterkenny Army Depot until her retirement.
She was a graduate of the former Carlisle Business College and a member of the Park Avenue U.M.C., Chambersburg. She enjoyed music, needlework, theater, travel, playing games, collecting quilts, quilting, and making the most delicious cookies. She and her husband participated in a number of choral groups. She also helped organize local bus trips to various locations. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter-in-law, Tammy Adams Daniels of Java, VA; her grandson, Brian G. Daniels of Java, VA; one sister, Rachel O’Donnell of Chambersburg; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by her son, Larry Brian Daniels, who died on October 31, 1998, and three sisters, Mary Showvaker, Barbara Miller, and Vivian Peters.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, August 8, 2015, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg. Interment will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Shippensburg. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
