Dorothy V. Alleman, 95, of Orrstown, departed this life on the morning of Saturday, January 27, 2018, at Green Ridge Village, Newville.
She was born on April 16, 1922, in Blairs Mills, Huntingdon Co., a daughter of the late Paul and Hester Cisney Hampton.
Dorothy was employed at Shippensburg University, as a cook in the Reisner Dining Hall, from where she retired, after thirty-five years.
She was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Orrstown, and also sang in its choir. Dorothy was also a member of the Missionary Society, the Golden Age Club; A.A.R.P., the Luther Ridge Auxiliary, and the Upper Strasburg Senior Center. At home, she spent much time gardening in her flower beds that were full of beautiful tulips. A welcome sight come spring time. Dorothy was an excellent at cooking and baking, well known for her pies and raisin filled cookies. She enjoyed visiting with friends and could always be counted on to lend a hand to those in need.
She is survived by her three daughters, Vickie E. (Larry) Elliott of Shippensburg, Kathy L. (Charlie) Forrester of Shippensburg, and Odena F. (Steve) Walcott of Sellersville; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one sister, Velma Hoke of Mechanicsburg; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald L. Alleman, who died on July 27, 1987; two sisters, Ann DiPaola and Marcella Lister; and one grandson, Kevin Elliott.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, January 31, 2018, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. The Rev. Harold E. Yeager will officiate. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Hall Cemetery. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
