Doris Harry

Doris G. Harry, 75, of Shippensburg, went to be with the Lord on the morning of Saturday, December 6, 2014, at her home.

She was born on August 3, 1939, in Dry Run, a daughter of the late Wilbur and Ness Bair Allen. Doris married Raymond L. Harry on March 22, 1958, in Hagerstown, MD.

Doris was employed at the Franklin County Courthouse for twenty years, first in the Prothonotary Office before transferring to Domestic Relations, retiring in 2000. In her younger years, she worked at the former Stanley Company and also drove school bus for Lee McBeth & Sons for thirteen years.

She was a member of the Orrstown United Brethren Church and was a committee woman for the Franklin County Republican Party. Doris was an excellent seamstress and upholsterer; she designed and sewed clothing for her and her husband as members of the Shippen Squares square dancing club. When her children were young, she was a Cub Scout and Brownie Den Mother.

Doris is survived by her husband of 56 years, Raymond; two sons, Andrew A. Harry of Shippensburg and Craig E. Harry of Marysville; two brothers, John (Velma) Allen of Shippensburg and Robert (Delores) Allen of Carlisle; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her daughter, Brenda Harry, who died in 1975; two brothers, Eugene and Joseph Allen; and one sister, Dorothy Cisney.

Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, December 11, 2014, at the Orrstown United Brethren Church. The Rev. Kenneth E. Williamson will officiate. Interment will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Viewing will be Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
