Donald M. “Sparky” Alleman, 76, of Shippensburg passed away Monday, April 8, 2024, at the Chambersburg WellSpan Hospital.
He was born on Tuesday, June 24, 1947, a son of the late Mark J. and Laura M. (Shearer) Alleman. Don married Mary Williams on October 20, 1972 at the Shippensburg Church of the Brethren.
Don worked as a carpenter for many years alongside his father, for the Greencastle Livestock Market for 27 years, but spent the majority of his life working on the family farm. He always enjoyed farming, fishing, and building different things. Don was a fan of the old John Wayne western movies and enjoyed listening to country and western music.
In addition to his wife of 52 years Mary, he is survived by one son, John and wife Gayle Alleman of Shippensburg; three daughters, Rebecca Alleman and partner Mike Mentzer of Shippensburg, Rozeann and husband Shane Stewart of Shippensburg, and Mabel and husband Cliff Van Scyoc of Shippensburg; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Gary L. and wife Janet Alleman of Shippensburg and Jamie R. Alleman of Shippensburg; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Alleman.
His funeral service will be held on Monday, April 15, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., in Shippensburg. Pastor Bruce Levy will officiate. Interment will follow the service at the Parklawns Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be held on Sunday, from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
