Donald A. Koontz, 79, of Lenwood Park, Shippensburg, died Sunday, December 22, 2013 in the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.
Born Friday, January 5, 1934 in Hopewell Township, Bedford County, he was a son of the late Albert W. and Letha F. Mills Koontz.
Donald was a graduate of the Hopewell Township High School in Bedford County. He was a United States Air Force Veteran, after his military service he went to work at the Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg as a Demolition Technician. He later retired from the Chambersburg School District as a custodian.
He was a member of the Open Door Church in Chambersburg and loved hunting and fishing with his best friend Fred Bowman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lois C. Grace Koontz who died December 19, 2005, and a nephew Brad Evans.
Survivors include two sons, James W. Koontz and David A. Koontz and his wife Jody, one daughter, Linda L. Conner-Morrow, two step-daughters, Janice J. Meshyock and her fiancé Terry Stinson and Rose M. Kistler-Toms and her husband Brad all of Chambersburg, one step-son, Joseph D. Meshyock and his wife Glenna, of St. Thomas, one brother, Robert W. Koontz , two sisters, Carole A. Evans both of Chambersburg and Betty M. Horton of Mifflintown, three grandchildren, six step-grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Friday, December 27, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in Parklawns Memorial Gardens with Pastor Carl McKee officiating.
