Donald Kaufmann, 89, of Shippensburg, departed this life on the morning of Wednesday, November 11, 2020, at the Shippensburg Health Care Center, where he had been residing for several years.
He was born on June 29, 1931, in Philadelphia, a son of the late Russell and Florence (Beauchamp) Kaufmann and married Gloria A. Cofone on January 21, 1956. She preceded him in death on April 16, 1998.
Don worked as a garage door maker at General Door in Bristol, PA, and also at a drive-in movie theater for over twenty years. After moving with his family to Shippensburg, Don found employment at Cressler’s Marketplace.
He was a social member of the Durff-Kuhn V.F.W. Post #223, Shippensburg, where he often helped serve in their former honor guard as a pallbearer. Don enjoyed playing shuffleboard, and was a devout Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan.
Don is survived by three sons, Donald R. Kaufmann, Edward W. Kaufmann and wife Carline, and Kenneth C. Kauffman, all of Shippensburg; two daughters, Deborah A. Simmons and husband Ken of Camp Hill and Theresa H. Gutshall and husband Eric of Chambersburg; five grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and spouse, Don was preceded in death by his brother, Robert J. Kaufmann; and a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Kaufmann.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, November 23, 2020, at the Our Lady of the Visitation Catholic Church, Shippensburg. Father Benjamin Dunkleberger will officiate. Interment will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Viewing will be Saturday, November 21, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg, and a half-hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.
