It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Donald Francis Franzoni, 87, of Shippensburg, who departed this life on the morning of Monday, July 22, 2024, at the WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital.
He was born on April 27, 1937, in Baltimore, the son of the late Francis and Julia (Brigerman) Franzoni. Donald married the love of his life, LeRoyce E. “Lee” DaShiell on June 15, 1957, in Baltimore, MD.
Donald worked as a carpenter, retiring in 1994. He also owned and operated his own farm.
He enjoyed fishing, painting, crossword puzzles, and playing scrabble. Donald liked watching football and baseball, mainly the Baltimore Orioles and Ravens. His main interest though was always carpentry and woodworking. Donald designed and built his own home and was known as a very skilled furniture maker. Oak was his favorite species of wood to work with.
In addition to his loving wife of sixty-seven years, Lee, he is survived by five sons, Perry Franzoni and wife Deborah of Shippensburg, Michael Franzoni and wife Debra of Orrstown, Mark Franzoni of Shippensburg, Kevin Franzoni and wife Stacy of Newburg, and Nicholas Franzoni and fiancé Audra of Shippensburg; nine grandchildren, Michael, Ellen, Matthew, Austin, Clinton, Kathryn, Heather, Brian, and Zoey; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Gregory Franzoni and wife Barbara of Frankford, DE; sister, Mary Burrier and husband Len of Bel Air, MD; and several nieces and nephews.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents.
His private funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at the Rising Hope Church, Shippensburg. Pastor Rick Fischl will officiate. Interment will follow in the adjoining church cemetery.
Donald’s family kindly requests the omission of flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
